We’re Laura and Paddy Mottram, a couple from south London. We are keen cyclists, usually doing the daily commute by bike and using our holidays to tour around as much as we can, including over 1,000 miles along the North Sea Cycle Route.

It’s not a bad way of seeing the world, and for that reason we decided to head off in May 2011 to cycle around South America. We spent 15 months travelling around the continent on our bikes, visiting every country along the way. We climbed over the Andes, slept out in the Atacama Dessert and sweated our way through the Amazon Rainforest. The trip started and finished on Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro.

It was the trip of a lifetime, during which we got engaged and married! For now though, we are back in London working out what to do next and taking any opportunity to get out on the bikes and discover more of the countryside back home and for the first time in a while, follow some well signposted routes.

As well as writing about our adventures on the website, we’re on Facebook and Twitter. You can also email us at [email protected].
