You can fit an awful lot of kit into four panniers. Here you’ll find our complete kit list of everything we took to South America and reviews of some of the most important items.
After a few wet cycle rides with low quality gear we came to the conclusion that it was worth splashing out on items with a great reputation, as we were constantly having to replace things that didn’t do the job well. During the two years we spent planning our trip to South America we slowly accumulated our kit list (Paddy once got a pair of Gortex gloves for Valentines Day, so romantic).
You can download a full gear list for our trip to South America including links to where we got things. Below is a review of some specific kit which we thought may be of interest to other cyclists.
We’ve also put together a list of kit we loved and another of stuff which we wish we hadn’t bothered with, as well as our top tips for cycle tourists.
