Sleepless back in London: three months on

Three months after our cycle trip around South America we are back at work and have fitted back into normal life surprisingly easily. However, flashbacks from the road are a common thing, especially at night when trying to get to sleep in a comfy bed is now impossible, and we find ourselves missing our tent.

Back on the bikes – a day trip along the Thames Cycle Path

After six weeks back in the UK, catching up with friends and family over countless meals we were keen to get back on the bikes for a bit of exercise. We chose a local ride along the Thames Cycle Path and were pleased to discover a quiet route with plenty of interesting sights on route.

Coast to Coast 3 – Rookhope to Tynemouth

The final stretch and our priorities were to get to Tynemouth by 3:30 to give us time to return to Newcastle for the train, and most importantly to arrive before the boys. We started with an off-road climb out of Rookhope. The road was too muddy and stony to ride so we pushed the bikes up.

Today we were being chased by Steve, Will and James – friends from London who had decided to do the route in two days. We had 35 miles to cover to Rookhope on our heavy bikes, whilst they travelling light had 95. The thought they might catch us on route drove us on throughout the day.
