In the blistering heat of the Sechura Desert we celebrated cycling 10,000km since we left Rio de Janeiro. In the process we have survived the traffic in Buenos Aires, cycled up the Andes in the snow and sweated it out in the Atacama Desert.

I totally underestimated the difficulties of cycling at altitude, thinking that rising slowly on our bikes we would acclimatise easily. As beautiful as it is high up in Peru, I can’t wait to get back down to sea level and oxygen.
