We reached 20,000km just south of Salvador on the Brazilian coast. Idyllic sounding, it was actually the rainiest day of our cycle trip around South America so far, and we only stopped for a few minutes to celebrate.
From the Suriname capital, Paramaribo, we set off towards French Guyana, a department of France and with all things you’d expect to find on the mainland, including fantastic cheese and wine and lots of sights along the road to Cayenne.
Being in the Guyanas is a bit like being in Europe with the different foods and languages as well as being able to hop between capitals in next to no time. It took us just five days to cycle from Georgetown, Guyana to Paramaribo, Suriname.
